PorcFest highlights

This year’s Porcupine Freedom Festival was the 20th. Several presidential candidates made appearances, including Democrat candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., along with Republican candidates Vivek Ramaswamy and Larry Elder.

On Thursday, I made my presentation about the Club 75 Alliance, the first since I finished the manifesto. About 8 people attended, and they asked some good questions. One person asked how travel between Massachusetts and Maine would work.

Immediately after that was a friendly debate between me and Alu Axelman, moderated by Derek Proulx, regarding how best to conduct the secession of New Hampshire. Alu argued for unilateral secession, while I advocated for a US constitutional amendment to make it legal. The debate was well attended, and while Alu won based on changing the most people’s minds, I still consider it a success because it raised awareness of the Club 75 Alliance.

On Saturday, the Libertarian Party hosted a Libertarian Presidential Candidates Forum featuring Mike ter Maat, Lars Mapstead and Chase Oliver. I asked all three candidates this question:

If someone proposed a US constitutational amendment to allow a state to secede when the federal government no longer has the consent of the governed in that state, could we count on you to use the presidential bully pulpit to encourage people to vote in favor?

All three candidates answered yes, though Mike ter Maat indicated the options provided by his Gold New Deal might be more palatable to the American public than secession.

Another highlight was receiving my LP lifetime membership pin directly from chair Angela McArdle on the main pavillion stage.
